Dyadic Alliance Governance Structures and Product Innovation Project Decision-Making

Product innovation within strategic alliances differs from product innovation within firms due to coordination problems with respect to decision making. This exploratory study, drawing on alliance research, strategic decisionmaking research and product innovation literature explains these problems at the level of product innovation projects in dyadic strategic alliances. In particular, the empirical case study results reveal that strategic decision-making effectiveness in product innovation projects is dependent upon the nature of the decision-making process that in turn is affected by alliance governance structure characteristics.
